International conformity

International conformity

As economic globalization is accelerating, environmental labeling practices must not become trade barriers but become business advantage. The EcoLeaf program intends to develop along with such global trends. Specifically, JEMAI actively participates in international standardization activities through ISO to ensure that the EcoLeaf program conforms to potential international standards regarding environmental declarations, such as PCR: Product Category Rule ISO 14025. It also promotes cooperation with similar programs abroad to accelerate mutual recognition. GED NET

One of notable outcome, in response to a call made by JEMAI, is the establishment of the GEDNet (Global Type III Product Environmental Declaration Network) in 1999 by eight domestic program body organizations from eight countries. Discussion for future mutual recognition is ongoing. More details are on another page.
